NEW YORK, October, 1, 2024 – Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights announced Susan Clark Livingston, partner at Brown Brothers Harriman (BBH), as the latest recipient of its 2024 Ripple of Hope Award. Livingston and the four previously announced laureates will be honored at the organization’s annual Ripple of Hope Gala on December 11 in New York City.

Each year, the RFK Ripple of Hope Award recognizes exemplary leaders across government, business, advocacy, and entertainment who have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to social change and worked to promote equity, justice, and human rights. A dedicated member of RFK Human Rights’ Board of Directors and Leadership Council, Livingston will be honored for her ongoing commitment to human rights; history of philanthropic endeavors; and trailblazing work as a leader in the financial services sector.

“For years, Susan has been a vital part of our RFK Human Rights family,” said Kerry Kennedy, president of Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights. “She has diligently supported our human rights work, helping guide and expand our impact worldwide. We are delighted to honor her contributions and look forward to celebrating her this December.”

Livingston joined BBH in 1985 and eventually became one of the first female partners in the firm’s history. She now serves as a global ambassador and client liaison for the Firm. Throughout her tenure, Livingston has led the firm’s campaign with United Way, a charitable organization that provides support for local communities in areas of housing, health, and education. Working alongside colleagues, she helped establish a career advancement program that provides veterans with computer training. Livingston has also partnered with various Boston-based nonprofits such as Habitat for Humanity and Rosie’s Place through the “BBHcares” volunteer program. She serves on multiple nonprofit boards, including RFK Human Rights, Scenic Hudson, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute, and Museum of Fine Arts Boston.

“I had the experience of meeting RFK twice as a young person in upstate New York, where we lived,” said Susan Clark Livingston. “He inspired us all to try to make the world a better place, even if just a little bit, every day. It is an especially meaningful honor to me personally to receive this award with such an esteemed group of laureates.”

Previous winners of the Ripple of Hope Award include Stacey Abrams, Amanda Gorman, former President Barack Obama, Tim Cook, Fran Drescher, Colin Kaepernick, Dolores Huerta, Desmond Tutu, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, late Congressman John Lewis, Bono, Dr. Anthony Fauci, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Robert F. Smith, George Clooney, former President Bill Clinton, and then-Vice President Joe Biden.
