How did you become a member of the Capital Partners Systems team?
I started as a developer in the Technology Graduate Rotation Program, which provided a foundational understanding of technical areas across the business and how each contributed to the success of our clients and Firm. As I progressed my career, I undertook different roles within the CP Systems team, refining not only my technical skills, but also gaining a comprehensive understanding of our business and operations.
You’ve been at BBH for 24 years. What has kept you here for so long?
The positive culture, supportive leadership, work-life balance, and interesting, meaningful work keeps me at BBH. Within my team, we have a great sense of community, that is both encouraging and collaborative. Everyone is welcoming, approachable, and cares about what we deliver for our clients and each other.
What interests you most about your role?
One of the most interesting aspects of my job is the diverse technologies I work with each day. This dynamic environment encourages me to explore and integrate new tools and solutions into our existing systems. I also have creative freedom to tackle complex business challenges through innovative development approaches – which keeps things fresh.
What advice would you give to someone interested in a Systems role?
Focus on building your critical thinking skills. The ability to analyze complex scenarios, assess potential challenges, and devise strategic solutions is key in navigating the intricacies of Systems platforms. Given the fast-paced nature of the work, being able to pivot, adapt, and show flexibility is also essential – particularly when there is a need to swiftly adjust strategies to better meet client needs. Additionally, mastering the art of managing project timelines, effective prioritization, and a proactive approach to problem-solving is crucial.
Tell us about your experience representing BBH at the AFROTECH conference?
AFROTECH was a great experience. It allowed me to be a part of insightful discussions, network with industry leaders, and explore the latest advancements in Generative AI and its future workplace impacts. The keynote speakers delivered inspiring talks that left me feeling both informed and motivated.
AFROTECH was also a catalyst for my own personal growth and introspection – as it prompted me to examine how my personal lens of the world contributes to my role as a technologist and the broader impact of my work within BBH. It was an inspiring and impactful few days!
Is there one important takeaway from AFROTECH that you could share?
One of the key themes that resonated with me was that diversity and inclusion are not merely moral imperatives but strategic advantages.
