We met over sushi and started talking about our military experiences. He was looking for help on his team at BBH, and a week later he reached out encouraging me to apply. I took his advice, got the job, and almost 20 years later I’m still here! My experience working with radar and missile technology in all kinds of environments and situations allowed me to understand the different technical systems used throughout my BBH career. Also, my exposure to diverse personalities in the military allowed me to gain an appreciation for how important unity is for long-term success.

Some of my best memories at BBH involve the outreach and advocacy I’ve done with the Military Veterans Network for veterans in and outside of BBH. By participating in the network, I get the benefit of interacting with BBHers outside of my immediate department and learn valuable lessons from them. The Military Veterans Network also helps my BBH colleagues who have not served to gain perspective on the military experience and teaches them how to advocate for veterans.

If you are a veteran apprehensive about joining the financial services industry because of transition concerns, don’t be! Many companies value the contributions of those who have served their country and there’s been a sustained effort for many years to develop processes and support systems that lead to success transitions out of the military. BBH has provided me with a great career and has helped me to evolve personally and professionally—and it can do the same for you!
