BBH has a robust internship program which regularly helps us identify and build a talent pipeline for the future. In return, our interns get hands-on work experience with real assignments and stretch projects. They also get to experience our corporate culture and what it means to be a BBHer. We recently talked with one of our interns in Krakow, Ola Stachowicz, to learn more about what attracted her to BBH and her experience working here.
How did you come to be an Intern at BBH?
I attended a job fair in the hopes of finding internship opportunities. As luck would have it, my first conversation was with BBH. While I didn’t necessarily know what to expect, I remember thinking how positive that initial interaction was and the relaxed, friendly nature of the conversation. I felt respected and heard and was given the opportunity to ask questions and learn more. That’s why, when BBH called me back and explained more about the position and what was expected, I knew it was a place I could build a career. So, when the offer came in, I was thrilled to accept and looking back, I’m happy that I took that chance.
How has the experience been?
I’m studying accounting and while my studies have helped provide me with a theoretical foundation, since I’ve been working at BBH, the real-world experience I’ve gained from hands-on work has been invaluable. I am mostly responsible for booking transactions and communication with clients. I enjoy my job and feel good about my contributions to the team. My work tasks are additive to my academic knowledge and skills, allowing me to be successful, while also providing the opportunity to grow and develop. Over time, I’ve been given more responsibility and the opportunity to further my career, which was one of my goals.
What do you like about working at BBH?
In Krakow, BBH is well-known in the market for providing employees with internal mobility opportunities, which was one of my considerations when I accepted the role. Since then, I have had a fulfilling work experience, enjoyed my team, and appreciated the flexibility that BBH gave me to balance work and my studies. Needless to say, when my role was made permanent and I was offered the job, I was thrilled to become a BBHer!
What advice would you have for other potential interns?
If I had some advice for future interns, I’d say know your strengths and interests – that will help you know if something is the right choice for you. Always be authentic, be thoughtful about your responses to questions and be as specific as you can about your plans and expectations. It’s okay not to be 100% certain about what you want to do, but make sure your values align. Once you’re hired, embrace feedback and incorporate it where you can. People at BBH are always willing to help and share their insights and experiences. What you can learn from others is invaluable, so make the most of it.
